I’m usually not a huge fan of fish burgers, but this Black Bean Salmon Burger is so good that it ranks right up there with some of our favourite beef and pork burgers. The patty itself turns out delightfully crispy on the outside and super tender on the inside. The flavours blend perfect and create a burger that is not only delicious, but very healthy as well.
This might just be your next favourite summer dish!
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Mise en Place
- Assemble equipment: food processor, spatula, medium mixing bowl, measuring cups and spoons. Dice salmon, chop chives, mince shallot, melt butter, drain capers and beans, measure and separate all ingredients. Cooking and Assembly
- Place black beans and capers in food processor and pulse to chop.
- Add bean mixture, diced salmon, and all remaining ingredients to a medium bowl and mix well to combine.
- Form into balls and then press onto a large, greased, parchment-lined baking sheet to create burger patties. Chill the burger patties in the fridge for 30 minutes prior to cooking.
- These burgers can be cooked two ways: 1) combine 1 tablespoon each of oil and butter in a large frying pan and cook over medium heat (approximately 8-10 minutes), or 2) grill on BBQ over medium heat (approximately 10-12 minutes).
Notes
I like to serve these burgers with a spicy mayo consisting of 1 cup mayonaise, 1 tablespoon Sriracha, 1 tsp Cajun spice, and 1/2 tsp Kosher salt. Drizzle with lemon juice for some additional zip.
