We are passionate about the environment, in particular about being both sustainable in our production and eliminate unnecessary waste. Foodie Foray and Foodie Foray Provisions are committed to having a positive environmental impact and to being as environmentally sustainable as possible. This includes:
- Use of sustainable / recycled products, including packaging and labels.
- Establishment of an in-house recycling program, including food waste and composting.
- Use of “green” cleaning products.
- Purchase of energy efficient appliances.
- Encouragement of recycling/upcycling with consumers.
- Using a fully paperless office.
- Partnering with and selection of environmentally conscious businesses and suppliers.
- Promotion of our environmental standards on the website.
We have also just launched a restaurant recycling program through which original glass jars are returned and sanitized for re-use with new lids.
Another example of this is with Canva – who we use for our printing and labelling – who has committed to environmental sustainability in multiple ways. This includes the planting of a tree in one of their locations in the Philippines, Haiti, Madagascar, Kenya, or Mozambique for every purchase (so far we’ve planted 10 trees!). They also sustainably source all of their products and packaging and only use suppliers who meet their high ethical and environmental standards. Finally, they offer packaging “made from 100% recycled material and printed with soy-based inks”.
We have also partnered with Attitude and use their line of eco-friendly cleaning products. This Montreal-based company features 100% natural, hypoallergenic, vegan, and cruelty-free products that are made from vegetable and mineral-based sources. All packaging is made from recycled HDPE #2 plastic, which is also the easiest plastic to recycle. And they also plant one tree for every item ordered.
