I love the smokey flavour and slightly chunky texture of this new Smoked Guacamole recipe! Although I don’t make this recipe often, it’s one of those super easy, fresh, and healthy side dishes that I find myself craving from time to time.
Sure, there are probably a thousand different guacamole recipes out there (all of which are slightly different), but this one will easily find it’s way onto your “go to” recipe list.
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Mise en Place
- Assemble equipment: potato masher (or fork), microplane, hand smoker with smoking chips, juicer, medium mixing bowl, measuring cups and spoons. Cut and peel avocado, dice shallot and tomato, chop cilantro, mince garlic, juice and zest lime, measure and separate all ingredients. Cooking and Assembly
- Mash prepared avocado in a medium mixing bowl until the desire texture is achieved.
- Add remaining ingredients and stir well to combine. Taste test and adjust lime and salt accordingly.
- Cover guacamole with plastic wrap or a smoking dome and apply a light smoke. Leave mixture covered for 5-10 minutes then transfer to a non-metal serving bowl and refrigerate until needed.
Notes
I prefer a fairly smooth texture for my guacamole, but you can choose a light mash to achieve an even chunkier feel. Fresh guacamole is best served immediately after completion. I like to use hickory chips for the smoke in this recipe, but other woods will work just as well.
