It’s been more than 2 years since we’ve had the opportunity to visit Supply & Demand in Ottawa’s Westboro neighbourhood and I’m pleased to say that the product has only gotten better with time. Our return visit was outstanding – same great service; innovative menu selections; and a cool vibe.

Being the old fashioned lover that I am, the night was kicked off with this cocktail classic and it did not disappoint. The chef then surprised us with a sampling of Albacore tuna crudo with lemon, truffle oil, puffed rice and cilantro. What an amazing dish! Light and refreshing, with a perfect crispiness from the rice – it was an instant hit and was greatly appreciated.

For starters, we went with the fresh oysters from multiple locations in PEI and Nova Scotia. I am happy to say that my family is slowly beginning to share in my oyster enthusiasm – which makes it much easier for me to justify ordering them! The oysters were super fresh and served with freshly shaved horseradish (a must have in my opinion), lemon, and various mignonettes. The pickle juice – horseradish combo was unanimously picked as the winning combo around the table.

From there, we went with the Hot smoked trout with creme fraiche, potato chips, deviled eggs and dill. This one quickly become a family favourite when we first visited in 2018, so we were pleasantly surprised that it is still on the menu. Beautifully smokey and accompanied by some delicious supporting elements, this trout is a must have for foodies!

Next up was a trio of shared plates, including a Kale salad with caper vinaigrette, thick-cut bacon and shaved Machego cheese, a Squash and goat’s cheese doppio pasta (made in-house), and Atlantic salmon with olive oil, poached fingerlings, broccolette and café du Paris Hollandaise. Again, everything was packed with flavour and offered amazing textures. The homemade pasta actually melted in your mouth – just incredible. A trip to their Pasta Class is now on my birthday wish list.

We capped the night off with a bang, going with the signature Baked Alaska dessert. I am slightly ashamed to admit that this is one dessert that I had never tried. Needless to say, the entire table was blown away – including myself. One commented that: “this was the best dessert I’ve ever eaten!”. Bravo!

This restaurant continues to deliver an innovative, exciting, and delicious menu that is jammed-packed with texture and flavour. Thanks @supply_ottawa for another great dinning experience. We’ll be back soon!
